Jingdezhen flow glaze tea caddy, crimson red grapes (Vitis vinifera), black mission figs (Ficus carica), garlic scapes (Allium sativum ophioscorodon), Fritz Hansen brass holder, pine canvas, oak bench. I wanted to examine three words on everyone’s lips nowadays – 'essential or not'? This work is a study on what is in the middle of often reductive simplifications of very complex circumstances – good vs bad, essential versus non-essential, pleasure versus suffering, privilege versus disadvantaged. In this strange global climate, what new state of balance will we arrive at in the near future?
